UC Track & Field Teams Sparkle in NY
The Union Catholic track and field teams, led by Ajanae Thompson, Alexandra Bonn, and Taylor Cox, dropped several red hot performances at a pair of meets in New York this week.
At the Holiday Classic on Thursday at the New York Armory, the Villanova-bound Thompson won the 55-meter dash in a school record 7.12, the fastest time in the state this season. Bonn, who is headed to Yale, soared a meet and school record 38-6 to win the triple jump, the top mark in the state this year, and Cox blasted a state-leading 8.01 to win the 55 hurdles, just ahead of Thompson, who was second in 8.14, the second fastest time in NJ this season.
Thompson, Bonn, and Cox teamed up with Leah Gould on Friday to run 31.46, the third fastest time in state history and the fastest in the nation this season, to finish first in the girls shuttle hurdles at the New Jersey Catholic Track Conference Relays at Ocean Breeze on Staten Island. The UC girls also won the 4×200 in 1:48.43, and the 4×400 in 4:16.27
