Union Catholic’s Track & Field Teams Produce Several Sparkling Performances at Bullis Invitational

Several members of Union Catholic’s track and field teams produced sparkling performances, including a pair of New Jersey No. 1 times, at the Bullis Invitational on Saturday.
Sophomore Avery Atexide continued his red-hot start to the season by running 48.70 to place third in the boys 400 to take over the state lead in the one lapper, and sophomore Taylor Cox placed second in the girls 100 hurdles in 13.87, also the fastest time in the state so far this season.
The Vikings also picked up a pair of victories from the girls 4×200 relay squad, who ran 1:40.82, the No. 2 time in NJ this season, and from junior Marcus McCoy in the boys 400 hurdles with a personal best and NJ No. 4 time of 54.91.
The boys 4×200 also dropped a sizzling time runner-up time of 1:28.93, the second-fastest time among NJ teams this season.
In the jumps, sophomore Noah Cooper, the runner-up in the long jump at the Meet of Champions this past indoor season, placed second in the LJ with a NJ No. 5 leap of 21-1. Senior Alexandra Bonn, a three-time Meet of Champions winner in the triple jump, finished second in the girls triple jump with a 37-6.50, No. 4 in the state this season, and junior Justice Hicks cleared a huge PR of 6-0 to place fourth in the high jump.
In other highlights, senior Maameyaa Nyinah ran a very strong race in the girls 800, placing fifth in 2:13.47, and freshman Jimmiea King placed seventh in the 800 in 2:17.10.
